The kids have been a part of it every step of the way. It was the perfect Spring Break project. It has been a great learning experience for the kids and has promoted responsibility, creativity, and being friendly.
Some things we learned last week:
-Planning and dreaming about the stand was half the fun.
-Kids have the best ideas because to them the sky is the limit!
-Sometimes as a Mom when you promote the stand you kinda feel like a pageant mom short of spray tans and fake eyelashes. But to get customers you must promote, promote, promote.
-Kids are always eager in the morning and willing to help!
-Selling is the best part! Adding up the total is hard work!
-Kids LOVE ring pops
-Moms love diet coke and fruit syrup
-Everyone who comes to a Lemonade Stand is smiling!
-Kids who run a Lemonade Stand think they have free reign over the candy and Lemonade any old time (hello sugar rush)
-WEAR SUNSCREEN!
-Setting up your stand by a neighborhood park is the best place ever!
-Jumping up and down on the street corner with signs is fun!
-Cleaning up when tired and hot is not very fun. But jumping into a freezing cold swimming pool helps.
-Counting the money and dividing it up three ways is a great math challenge.
-It is great to get to know your neighbors and people in your community. You will meet a lot of really great people.
-no matter how many times you wash mop or wipe things will be sticky
-Always say thank you with a smile on your face!
I have decided that Lemonade Stands are kinda like warm fuzzies. Seriously, who doesn't get a big smile on their face when they see a couple of kids selling lemonade? Does it even matter that it is usually watered down lemonade served from sticky hands? If you want to make have some great family time, make a lemonade stand with your kids.
I believe that the people who always stop when they see a lemonade stand are some of the happiest people in life.
Something I promised myself this week: no matter where I'm going or how rushed I am from this moment on I will always stop at any lemonade stand I see.

ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. :0) I loved reading about your lemonade stand. I am loving reading your farming blog (how I found out about your lemonade stand blog). My son is an entrepreneur at 10 years old. He is always wanting to juice grapefruits, or make lemonade and sit at the end of our driveway selling it. Now I wish I would have gotten pictures...though his faded picnic table pitcher of lemonade and a stack of paper cups do leave a bit to be desired. We should build a stand together. :) He also likes to grow random veggies. He put a few peas in the ground, and this last couple of weeks he has gotten a handful of peas. He wants to have a vegetable stand.
